Tiptree Amateur Dramatic Society

First Performance 1931

Members of TADS first ‘trod the boards’ in Tiptree in 1931. Since then the group has kept the village, and surrounding area, entertained with a regular stream of productions of all types: comedy, drama, romance, horror, mystery and of course our world-famous pantomimes.

Acting is but one of the activities that go to making a sucessful, enjoyable production. TADS members, although amateurs, possess a vast range of skills and talents and, when required, we are always grateful for the willing help, in many forms, provided by enthusiastic and willing non-members. A quick look at the cast and crew lists, will show that TADS performances are supported by an large number of people and many skills.

In the past few years, we have formed and nurtured the TADS Junior Workshop, a young persons’ group whose members are between the ages of 11 and 16. ‘TADS Juniors’ have, to-date, staged several of their own productions in the village and many have taken part in our main shows.
We operate to a comprehensive constitution and adhere to robust Child-Protection and Health and Safety policies.

If you would like to join us, or would like further information, please use the Contact Us link at the top of any page. This year (2007) TADS enters its 76th year of entertaining having celebrated its anniversary with style in the later part of last year.

TADS Junior Workshop

TADS is proud to host two versatile groups, the Senior group and the TADS Junior Workshop. This is a separate group of talented and enthusiastic young people between the ages of 11 and 16, who rehearse and produce their own productions within the village. Guided by experienced directors, TADS Juniors' learn all aspects of theatre work and drama. This includes an in depth look at 'backstage work', an understanding of which, TADS believes, is central to producing a good performance on stage.

Being a member of TADS is fun. Our younger members are encouraged to enjoy themselves whilst learning.

To date, TADS Juniors' have staged several of their own productions. In addition our junior members often join the senior group, on stage, in a combined production.
TADS Juniors' rehearsals and productions are carried out in a disciplined and structured way by experienced 'directors'. The number of young people nominated in this year's NEETG Full Length Play Festival is an example of the dedication of all concerned.
